How does a mixed case discount work?

Add bottles to the case. At 6 the first tier applies, at 12 the full-case tier. That is exactly what the register does during a sale.

Why automatic beats a cashier with a calculator

  • Faster lines. No manager call for every mixed case on a Saturday.
  • Consistent. The same rule at every register and every store, every time.
  • Measurable. Reports show sales and discount totals per rule, so you know if the promotion paid.
  • Controlled. Manual discounts stay a manager permission; rules cannot be edited from the register.

FAQ

Mix-and-match questions

No. 01

What is a mix-and-match case discount?

A mix-and-match case discount gives a customer the case price when they buy enough qualifying bottles, even if the bottles are all different. A common rule is 10% off any 6 wines and 15% off any 12. The register counts qualifying items as they are scanned and applies the discount by itself.

No. 02

Which products can qualify?

You choose: a whole category (all wine), a sub-category (sparkling), a brand, or a hand-picked list. You can also exclude items, such as allocated or already-discounted bottles.

No. 03

Can I have more than one tier?

Yes. Tiers stack by quantity, for example 6 bottles take one percentage and 12 take a higher one. Only the highest tier that applies is used on a sale.

No. 04

Can a rule run in one store only?

Yes. Each rule lists the stores it runs in and an optional start and end date, so a Saturday promotion at one location does not leak into the others.

No. 05

Is a mixed-case discount legal in my state?

It depends on the state and sometimes the product type. Some states restrict quantity discounts on spirits or wine, or require posted prices. Check your licence conditions; you can switch a rule off per store at any time.

No. 06

Does the discount show on the receipt?

Yes. The receipt shows the shelf price of each bottle and the case discount as its own line, so customers see the saving and your reports separate discounts from sales.

No. 07

What about beer "mix a six"?

Same rule engine: any 6 singles from a cooler category at a six-pack price, expressed as a percentage or a fixed price per qualifying group.

No. 08

Can staff apply it manually instead?

Manual discounts are a separate permission. Automatic rules are safer because they apply the same way every time, at every register.

No. 09

Do online orders get the discount?

Rules can be set to apply to online-store orders too, so a mixed case ordered for pickup is priced like one bought at the counter.

Let the register do the case maths.
