Turn on age prompts for restricted categories
Flag spirits, wine, beer and other restricted categories so the register stops and asks for an ID check on every sale that includes them.

The age prompt is set on categories, so every product in a flagged category is covered, including ones you add later.
Steps
- Go to Products › Categories.
- Open each restricted category (Spirits, Wine, Beer, Ready-to-drink) and switch on Age check.
- Set the minimum age. In the US it is 21. In the UAE use the age your licence requires.
- Choose the input: scan ID, type date of birth, or both.
- Under Roles, decide who may override the prompt. Most stores allow managers only, with a PIN.
- Ring a test sale with one restricted item and check the prompt appears once per sale.
Tips
- A 2D scanner that reads the PDF417 barcode on US licences fills the date automatically. See the hardware guide.
